The Story of a Girl That Resorted to Techniques Over Anger
She walked into Clearly Confident on Wednesday, June 12th hesitant... I could tell.
I walked up to her and gave her a hug and told her how excited I was that she was attending an in person training.
Day 1 went by and she seemed to be the same - hesitant.
On day 2, she was different. Her demeanor changed. She was grabbing the microphone and practicing. She was smiling and laughing. She was more open to everything.
As we were cleaning up on day 3, I noticed she stayed back. We started to talk.
"I know you don't like personality tests, but I am a 1 on the Enneagram and that means I resort to anger. When it's bed time in my house, there is usually some sort of tantrum, and it ends with me being angry and going to my bedroom to cry about the fact that I got angry. But last night was different... I had tools to communicate to my 3 year old in his weak moment. I didn't have to resort to anger, because I knew how to handle him calmly with the new techniques I learned."
I asked her what made her come to the training and she said she is not into personal development at all and she would typically never do anything like this, especially by herself. But she did.
"What made you pull the trigger?" I asked. She said, "it was constantly on my heart, but my brain pushed it away over and over. Finally, it got to the point where the discomfort of not knowing what it would do for me wasn't worth it. I had nothing to lose."
That is what we like to describe "the pull." The pull is a calling. It's the music in your heart that is so loud, you can't help but walk towards it. She said, "yes" to the pull in her heart. And she is so glad she did.
